Hi Gang Spent a great weekend with our Grandaughter who is turning 11 in a few days time. As usual with Grandparents, we spoiled her rotten but why not?! She's our pride and joy!
On the way back from Whitby, I got in a couple of hours this afternoon hunting a wooded area of a very old and very large Toronto area park with my new 1270. Running the IRON DISC at 4.0, I dug a lot of junk as is to be expected in woods hunting but I did dig one curio that is a brass shotgun percussion cap that has been in the soil a very long time.
It's about 5/8" in diameter and doesn't have any manufacturer's markings to ID it. I'd say it's a 410 guage or a bit smaller. Inside, there's still a bit of paper wadding present. It's nothing spectacular but I'm hoping it's the start of some very interesting finds hunting wooded areas, field sites and old homesteads in search of relics, old coins and other curios.
Is the Fisher 1270 considered to be a "fast" or "slow" recovery machine in target rich areas? Anyone know offhand? I tend to run the coil (5" diameter) at slow speeds and shoulder width sweeps; I leave the SILENCER mode off as I want to hear everything.
Thanks in advance for any insight on its recovery speed. Hope everyone got out and had some enjoyment and success this weekend!
Best Regards and Happy Hunting.
