Fisher 1236X2

Ground Pounder

New member
I need all opinions about the Fisher 1236x2 or any other multipurpose Fisher compared to the 1236x2. I will be doing salt water, sand, relic, coin, etc, hunting.

Hi Groundpounder,

In my view the 1236x2 is a real gem. I've used most top range machines and I've never found a better one for hunting over serious iron junk. It works well over farmland with the 8 inch head and is excellent on contaminated beaches too. But it's absolute forte is on iron infested sites in conjunction with the small head. You have to learn what a deep signal sounds like - it sounds quiet and is very easy to ignore - but once you've done that you'll be surprised what it will find for you.

Funnily enough, they don't seem very popular over here but that's probably because they're relatively cheap and people assume they can't be much good. But they are.....

Hope this helps!

this is a great machine! I've used one for a while and it works awesome around salt water. i do recommend buying a 10.5" coil for it. it gives it a lot more depth. you wont be disappointed in the fields either. HH

I am going to Myrtle Beach and i need a long handled sand scoop for searching at the waters edge in the ocean. Can anybody give me some direction on size ,length, brand, etc.

... Field and Beach Hunting. Speckles is correct about it being great in iron infested areas and is a good all around mid-range detector.

In fact check out my finds from last W/E that I posted on the Beach and Water Detecting Forum found with my 1236X2. Believe me when I say the 1719 Reale was D-E-E-P!
