Fisher 1212?

Anybody have any experience with the Fisher 1212? I just got one yesterday on e-bay and wondered if it is a decent coin and jewelry getter? From what i have read it is comparable to a Tesoro Compadre. If so it should be a good machine. It isn't here yet but am looking forward to trying it, and the Ace 250 that is on its way, out when they get here.

The 1212 is a good starter unit for the money but don't let the term "starter unit" lead you into thinking it won't hold up to finding deep coins. It's a turn on and go simple to operate unit that works great as a back up. It doesn't have the bells and whistles but you will find that those aren't always necessary.

I'd rate it a little deeper than the Compadre...but it is also a little bulkier. Both are really good units. The Compadre may have a better edge on gold. The Ace 250 has already made a good name for itself as a low end ID unit. I'm not crazy about the ergonomics of it as the stock coil is a little heavy with its design set up. But for the price...it's a great buy.

All 3 are what I call "fun units". But all 3 will perform very well and are easy to learn.

Thanks. I have a Bounty Hunter Discovery 2200 right now that i am replacing with the Fisher 1212 or Ace 250, which ever i like better after trying them both. I was kinda leaning towards a Compadre but got a fair deal on the 1212 so bought it. Already had the Ace 250 on its way so will have to decide between them. Trying to sell the Discovery 2200 now. Take care.
