What a great weekend, weather, location, health and finds. Up at 3:15am on the road by 3:45am and at the campground I stayed at and in the water by 8:30am. It is a long drive but the location can't be beat for beauty and treasure possibilities. My plan was to spend lots of time Saturday going up and down the shore line but within an hour of arrival I was back to the swimming beach and where the boats park and party. It was a free fishing weekend and WAY too many hooks flying threw the air. (I didn't want to ruin the fishing.) I camped overnight, did a 4 1/2 hunt in the morning and headed back home. As I am sure everyone knows, the drive home sure seems to take longer than the drive too. ??
From the area where I found the 1974 gold class ring I know I found a wheat penny (always a good sign) and the Canadian penny that turned out to be a 1948. Next road trip this good sized area with be hit hard with lots of griding!!! PS.. I am guessing that is where the other 2 Wheaties came from also.
Out where the boats anchor and have fun at I came across a ribbon about 1 to 2 feet wide and maybe about 1 foot deep where all the soft sand was gone, I'm guessing from a temporary current created by all the spring rains? I hunted the small but long ravine very slow and careful, it netted be the junk ring, the 14k ring and a nickel that came out like a fresh drop.
Only put one pair of the 5 sunglasses I found are in the picture, this lake has what I think are zebra mussels and they make lots of stuff gross, even the little toy car needs a scrubbing. Yet another cell phone in the water, Why??????
My favorite find is the class ring, not super old, heavy or valuable but it is one of the best looking class rings I have seen. The silver chain is also very cool, I don't find many chains so enjoy it when I do. I think but don't know for sure but the silver ring is a older ring?
I am already planning my next trip back.
