First week with E-trac

Besides all the clad and cents found in the first week, the pics show my recent finds of 3 silver coins-more than I found all of last year-including two WWII nickels ('43 and '45) and a 192? mercury dime. This past week I also found six wheaties, two LA tax tokens, a common 1 mil and the less common 5 mil, plus the lady's hair pin and small buckle (originally gold plated). These are much better finds than usual in my rural town. It appears that his Etrac is the best coin hunter I have owned.

I use a setting to allow 04 CO and 27 FE using mask. I did dig a 2ft hole (just getting to know what it will hit deep) and found a piece of iron the size of a 5lb maul. If I run on max. sensitivity of 30 it falses a lot, but does go deep. I think the way to cover an area is to hit it in 30, then go over it from another direction with a setting of 24-25, and finally go at the same area with "automatic" sensitivity from yet another direction. There are advantages/disadvantages from each setting. With higher sens. settings it does pick up more iron than with less or automatic. I can definitely hit some deep coins with higher settings (24-30), when automatic won't even beep them. In fact, you can go between the two settings to double-check your finds. I guess Mode settings would be the way to do that, but I haven't tried to do it that way yet.

Yessir, you were correct. Thanks for recommending it and giving me a fair price on it. It goes VERY deep on iron. the peice of iron I found was so deep I had to extend my arm almost to its full reach to get my hand on it. That's more than 2 feet deep. Impressive.
