Here is my first V nickel I have found....also my oldest coin to date...it is dated 1894, and looked toasted when I pulled it from the ground....after a short soak in some Lime Away, I was able to at least see a lttle more detail...This was found in North Texas behind a tavern that was est. in 1880 I believe...Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

1883 is the first year they are made, so it cannot be an 1880, looks like 1894 to me when I enlarged the pic, the lime a way sure does a nice job on them! great find

The bar where I had found it was est. around 1880 or so...not the coin...yea, I was surprised at how well the lime away worked!

oh I am sorry, I totally misread that! I was really tired when I posted that I did a privy dig in the sun all day yesterday and I was just dead tired.

My first old coin also was a V nickel (1900) Way to go...Hope many more!

Wow, lime away rules!, Hopefully I'll find one of those soon.
