First try with the Excalibur..

Last Saturday we got to the beach and thankyou to all for the helpful hints on settings etc. Garry had an absolute ball using the Excal. He found a couple of dollars in coins, sinkers, heaps of trash, but felt he was on the right track with it. So we're heading out again this weekend, and he can't wait! He wants me to have a go, but I don't fancy going into the winter blue sea. I think I'll just keep warm and cosy on the beach with my Quattro. Anyway, I'm trying to get him to post on here about his thoughts on the Excal so far. Hopefully you'll get a post soon, if I get the prodder out!
Cheers Angela:detecting:

G'day all,
Well Angela finally got her way and convinced me to post. As some of you are aware, I normally use my Explorer 2 but now for the first time I'm using my new Excalabar and yes, the sounds are all diferent so I'm learning all over again.
First try was in a river with high minerisation in disc mode, but I found the threshold was just to noisy along with the chattering of my teeth, hookah diving in winter in cold water was just too much for me. I switched the detector into all metal (pin point) which was just less for me to worry about.
Then came Saturday and I couldn't wait to get to some warmer water so off to the beach in southern Australia in (winter here) Angela and I go. On with the wet suit, start the hookah, into water that is deep close to shore were everyone swims and found my first coins only $2 worth, it fun anyway, and found it was easy to run in all metal and switch into disc mode to ID the target. Well I see its going to take a little getting used to, but with your help hopefully it won't be too long.
Regards Garry

Hi, I just got my excal 800 this past friday. My husband has taken me out 3 times, I am not doing to bad for just getting the machine, but I still have a ways to go to completely understand this machine. Just like everything else that we do, it takes time and patients.
I wish you both lots of luck, and lots of loot. Take care.

You are going to love it! Funny how we are paralleling detectors! Quattros and excals!!

I think I can safely say that a lot of us north of the equator are very interested in your finds down under, so please post pics when the finds start coming.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:
