Had about three hours to kill this afternoon. Figured I get some more time In with the 50. Went to a turpentine still thats been giving up some nice coins. Got two V nickels and a 1916 wheaty there last Tuesday with the explorer. I started out with the 7.5 coil and made a pass through a area I haven't hunted yet. This site is trashy to say the least and the 7.5 just wasn't working well. All I found on the first pass was the handle to a spoon and a train button that I saw laying on top of the ground. When I passed the coil over the button it would only stand out form the iron when it was in the inner circle of the coil. So I decided it was time to try the 5 x10 18.75. Re GB and wow it was like a hole new detector. Oh wait thats right it is. Target separation much better and seemed to deal with all the iron much better. Looking back I probably should of dropped the sens down on the 7.5 to see If it did any better dealing with the iron. Any way for the first real try did OK with the 50 once I switched coils. Found some small brass artifacts and a 1916 buffalo nickel. And it was able to pick out another button right next to a large iron spike. Any suggestions on getting the 7.5 to work a little better are welcome. Or is it just a clean ground coil?
