and for now that's what I mainly worked with.
Since I Relic Hunt in very iron littered sites the most, I have used the 5" DD more as I started to evaluate the Gold+ after I received it, but shortly after using and comparing the two 5½X10 coils, snow arrived. I planned a two to three week detecting trip to warmer areas a month ago and was just waiting for the Makro Gold Racer to arrive so I could work both it and the FORS Gold+ at some Gold Nugget Prospecting sites, and I am still ready-to-go .... just waiting on the Gold Racer.
That will let me compare both the Gold+ and Gold Racer with similar-size coils in gold producing areas, and I also plan to visit at least two Relic Hunting sites to cross-check them with my FORS CoRe for that application. Although I have used DD coils since 1971 and have had one or two on-hand for a few other models, I have been working the DD coils on both the Nokta and Makro models for a year now, but have been eager to see a Concentric coil as those are what have worked the best for me, all around, for the past 33 years or so.
I was very pleased to have the 5½X10 Concentric for the Gold+, and in the little time I was able to get afield before winter hit, I have preferred the Concentric to the DD coil where I hunted. I wish I had a Concentric coil for the FORS CoRe that was in the 5" housing for the Gold+ as I think it might provide a little advantage for me in the densely littered Relic Hunting sites I favor.
Anyway, once the Makro Gold Racer arrives, I should be on-the-road to warmer, drier places within 48 hours, an I'll be working the Gold+ with the 5½X10 Concentric initially. Since the latter '70s I have had my best success when detecting for gold nuggets with Concentric coils so that will be my initial plan to work an area. Then I'll switch to the same-size Double-D coil and rework the same location for comparison.
And you are correct, the FORS Gold+ is a smooth working detector in the All Metal mode, and still not unpleasant in the Discriminate modes.
