My probe and upper shaft arrived for my SE today, and of course I put them to the test. I was eager to get out and dig some of those signals that I had left behind in the recent past. I went to a location where I knew there was a quarter next to a tree, but I could not locate it a week ago. It was easy to find with the probe. Down about 7" behind and under some roots. Too bad it was clad. They must have added some clay fill at one point.
I went to an old park that has been pounded over the years. My pickings have always been very slim in the past, but it is a nice quiet park. Today I decided to hit some areas where I had been before. I found some clad that I had missed before and it was 6-7" down. The probe made them easy to locate in the hole.
I then tried an area on my walk back to my car. Iron was heavy and I decided to dig a few iffy signals that were mixed in with iron. I pulled three wheat's (1912, 1927d and 1930d) in 10 minutes from this area. They were all mixed in with Iron. The last hole had a 4" nail in it. The nail was on one side of the hole and the coin on the other and a bit deeper, maybe 7" down. The probe was perfect for this type of environment.
As I have posted before, I am new to Minelab, but I think I may be starting to understand the sounds better. I enjoyed the finds anyway.
Thanks for everyones help.
