First time out with the Sunray X-1 probe

Again thanks to everyone that gave me advice on where to mount the X-1 on my E-Trac. I decided to mount it on the battery compartment as Sunray suggested, with the expectation that it would provide better balance. I took it out today and found that it does help to balance the detector, especially when you're using a larger coil. You do have to pay more attention to insure that the probe wire is clear of any obstacles (e.g., arm rest) before taking it out of its holster. And there were a few times when I forgot to toggle the X-1 switch back to "coil" (as others mentioned). But I just love the fact that I can now use the E-Trac's tones to probe the target, so its worth it.

I also compared the X-1 to my Garrett Pro Pointer and found that the Pro Pointer gives a little extra depth. But I'll gladly sacrifice a little depth for the ability to use the E-Trac's tones to probe the target.

Thanks again,
Alex

P.S. - found my first chain (cheap), and a silver rosie today! I'm a newbie, and silver in San Francisco parks is scarce. So I do feel lucky today.

Congrats on the silver. The etrac is a silver finder for sure. As far as the toggle switch, after a while you will switch it without thinking. I did that quite abit when I first started and learned pretty quick. LOL. TMAN...

Hi Tmanfromtexas, here's what I did to solve the toggle switch issue...
I added a piece elastic over the cable and shaft before attaching the coil cable.
The switch toggle springs back after you adjust the tension correctly.

Man, I've forgot to switch back to the coil too often !!!
In my case __ "Oldfartitus" HEH HEH...
