First time out with the CTX 3030

first time out with the CTX 3030:
waited ALL day for the UPS man to show up( it's great to feel like a little kid waiting for something special to arrive) and

it didn't get to me until 4:30 ....
modern school yard that i have detected with the Garrett GTP 1350 and the E TRac.
first dig was a 12-38 at 6" and was a memorial penny. after two more 12-38/12-39 were memorials i quit digging those numbers.
next i dug 12-34 and were all clad dimes at various depths up to 6"
then decided to only dig 12-46 and found 9 clad quarters up to 6"
I did dig 12-12/12-13 and found 5 Jefferson nickels
last dig was getting dark and found a 1959 Rosie at 6" under a root. There was also was another target in the hole that i was trying to

find with the Garrett Pro Pointer until i rescanned the hole and found out that it was not the target that i was after ( i

already miss the X1 probe) so i had to go after the other target and finally found the silver dime at 6".
not a bad first time out with the CTX 3030.
i assembled the machine and headed out to the school yard and used the stock program. turned it on, noise cancelled and

started hunting. i have a lot to learn about this machine for sure. i have read the manual while i waited for it to arrive

but some of it doesn't make a lot of sense until i have it in my hands and can do what the manual says while actually having

hands on the machine.
it was very stable and the tones were rock solid. i found the tones to sound fine for me and maybe they aren't exactly like

the E Trac but i think they are close enough to know what is going on without having to look at the screen unless you are

looking for nickels or for something other than coins.
the only problem was as i was finished i got an error message that said something like "unexpected error" or something like

that and then i couldn't turn the machine off. it was frozen and all i could do was to pull the battery to get it to shut

down. i replaced the battery and turned it on and off numerous times and it seemed OK but i haven't been out yet today to see

if that happens again.
the balance is fantastic! i agree with what I've read so far in that it seems lighter than the E Trac due to how well

balanced it is.
the screen was easy to read and i like the way the lower part is ghosted out so that we can see where the cross hairs are in

the lower ferrous range.
It's raining pretty hard right now so i won't be getting out right away but I will keep y'all posted as to how i do on my

next hunt.
HH to all.

Thanks for the report.---Hopefully Minelab is going to do a fix on that "unexplained error" msg. & lock up---also on the detector shutting itself off at different times.----Did you mean clad dimes at 12-44?
