Finally was able to get out and do some hunting with the CTX-3030, after taking the class up in Chicago. I read the manual and felt pretty good about being able to navigate around the detector. I am an Explorer SE user and this is all new to me. I put the detector in coin mode, put the manual sensitivity to 27 and left every thing else as it came from the factory. Went to an old 1850 house site, house is no longer there, and is now a bean field. I picked up some iron objects, and there was a lot of cans there. My first good find was the small buckle, and found it at about 8", came in like brass. then found that smashed bullet at about 4". Then got a higher tone and popped out the memorial penny at 5". Then another higher tone and out came the wheat 1936 at 5". Then an old 220 frontier swift shell at 6". But my best find was the large cent 183?, at 4". My last nice find not pictured here was a flat button at 8". For not knowing much about this machine I did pretty well. I am still learning what the CTX-3030 it telling me so not able to give you guys more technical information. I had target trace and pinpoint trace on and that is what gave me my best clue and my decision to dig some of the targets. My hearing is not really good. I got out my explorer SE and hunted for awhile with it and, it felt so heavy after using the CTX-3030 so I went back to using it. I do not know if I was doing something wrong but the depth did not seem to match what I was seeing on the screen. I was digging most everything to get a feel for what the machine was telling me.
We have 2 machine coming in on or about the 30Th and 3 more a week later, so if you are interested let me know.
