First time out with new MD

U.P. Northwoods

New member
Well, after work I got home el pronto and headed over to the grade school the next street over. In the past when I had an MD I had hit this school quite regularly. What a difference just several years makes in these new machines. I walked from the edge of the parking lot along the sidewalk in a straight line for 200 ft. Yes it took me an hour since I have much ring rust to knock off and get back into the swing of things. I left the disc and sens both low and although I had my share of pull tabs I came away with 5 quarters, 6 rosies, 3 nickles and 6 pennies, 1 silver cross (costume jewlry). I had many a pull tab but these won't go to waste either as I take and same them for the kids at St. Judes. For every 1200 pull tabs a child gets a free treatment. So if you think about it remember those kids next time you find those tabs. Am I pumped!!! you bet and can't wait to get back out.

Awesome job! I never thought about that with the pulltabs, I usually toss them. I'll have to start piling them up and donating them when they reach critical mass. Actually it would be a great charity for MD'ers to form, if we all collectively sent in pulltabs and had a handful of charities that accepted them that get to put them to a good purpose.

That's great work. Can you provide a link that gives info on that particular pull tab program for St. Judes?

Don't have a link, but if you go to St. Judes or Ronald McDonald House it will help you. I just give mine to my daughter and she takes them to St. Francis Hospital where she works and they are affiliated with the Childrens Hospital. From what I gather these tabs are turned in for scarap and alot of it goes toward helping the parents withthe cost of staying with their children while treated. This help places like the Ronald Mc Donald homes to provide for these folks in need. Just one of the things I recently found out in the past couple of days. You may google pull tabs for St. Judes or Ronald McDonald House. Thanks a bunch! - Rich
