First time out with my new/old CTX 3030

Thought I'd take advantage of the beautiful late afternoon and go out and hunt an old church site I've hunted for years. The old original church was made of logs in 1860's and has been replaced with an newer one (circa 1930's) a few yards away. I've pulled some good stuff out of the oak groves around it and this afternoon netted me a few other coins. The first was a 1905 V nickel at about 3 inches...then I found a 1917 Buffalo on top of the ground. Finally the 1899 V nickel surfaced from about 5 inches. I was there about 2 hours and nothing else spectacular showed up. Was a good run for me and the new/old CTX 3030. It's a keeper!

You know what's crazy? I have a church with a very similar history, and all I've really found are old nickels! Someone has high graded my site for sure, and it wasn't me! Nice finds, you'll enjoy the CTX immensely....

Went back for about an hour today and got one more V nickel from the old church. This one only 4" deep...1888. The CTX seems to like the nickels a lot.

It LOVES nickels, nickels and more nickels! Any age, most any depth,it's a NICKEL HOG! I am not a low conductor digger by nature, but you know damn well if you're hearing that smooth 12-13 in 50 tone it's time to crank out another nickel!
You have quite a site there, keep posting as you find things...

I have had serveral detectors in my life and still own a Garrett AT Pro, Minelab Safari, both being great
machines, and have settled in to my CTX3030 and I have never in my life found a machine that when
you think you have a nickel, it is a nickel. The 3030 is the best I have ever seen on coins. Little harder
to learn to pinpoint with at first but got it down pat now and love it.
