first time out with my deleon scores an injun

i got my new to me deleon wednesday and finally got out in my own yard to try it out today. in the side yard there used to be a garden area and most of the coins i have found have came from that area. i put the 5.75 coil on the deleon because of the amount of nails and metallic trash i have dug there before and started hunting the garden area. the first few signals didn't lock on coins but jumped from coin to iron. i dug them to see what they were and found nails and rusted metal like i expected to find. then i had a signal that stayed pretty much in the zinc cent area with a couple other bars just showing at 4 inches. that signal turned out to be a 1906 indian head penny, the oldest coin i have found in my yard so far. i also dug a 1927 wheatie and a 47 wheatie, and a clad quarter. the deleon seems to be very sensitive to tiny pieces of metal at good depth. i only hunted about a half hour or so today, but have a hunt planned for tomorrow if it doesn't rain at an old church picnic grounds that has produced some old coins for the last several years. i hope to try the 12x10 coil on the deleon tomorrow along with the stock and small coils. from what i saw today the deleon has very good depth, some of the small trash items were about 6 inches deep and read strong with the small coil. it is going to take a few hours to learn the deleon, but it seems to be a good detector so far. i'll let you know how tomorrows hunt goes if it don't rain me out...........thanks.......................roger

Glad you like the DeLeon Roger, Tesoro sure makes some fine detectors. I'm sure it will get you many more good finds. Steve.

Good results! I sure do love my Deleon, it is one nice machine. Easy to use and the depth it gets is great.
