First time out with Edge

Hi All,

Off of work Friday and just bought a used Fisher ID Edge from Jackpine Savage and anxious to try it out. Hit one old home site for about an hour and found one wheatie. At a second home site the house is still standing and I actually hunt inside the house where most of the floor has been torn out. Close to one of the fireplaces I found a coin and immediately thought it was another wheatie because it was so cruddy. Turns out to be a '26 Merc and the ugliest one I've ever found. Oh well, silver's silver - I'll take it. Found another wheatie close by.

Liking the Edge! Maybe better than my CZ? (Did I say that out loud?) :O

good finds for the first time using the edge ,i too have the edge and can't be more pleased with it as it will hit really well even at the deeper targets and the small stuff you will be amazed at what it will hit on hh and good luck

I'm really pleased with it. My last hunt I dug a wheat at 7" with the small coil. I was thinking it was going to be REALLY old but it was a '57. Goes to show there's no rhyme or reason to the depth of coins.

The coin$trike is deeper, beter seperation, more features, and is a killer in trash. The edge is also a good unit ,just a step down.

does not give up much depth as I experienced also and the iron see thru is pretty fantastic.

Glad you are enjoying some good success with the Edge Kent.

Oneton,

I used the Coinstrike as my main machine for over 3 years and it is a good one. In my ground the Edge give up very little and I prefer the audio.

PS: For plowed field hunting in rough uneven ground conditions the Edge has it all over the C$! Its simply hits targets much better than the C$ in those conditions.

It all depends on your soil conditions, some areas of the u.s. has very little or no minerals and others have many minerals. Here in louisiana with almost no minerals the coin$trike can keep up with the f75 with no problem.Although the edge is a great unit i perfer the coin$trike it has many more features and is the best unit in trash and the responce is in realtime so it is just as fast as the f75.

You can also use a soft tip toothbrush and a dap of tooth paste. best way to clean silver. or just a rag and toothpaste either way.

Hi,
Do you have to reset the Edge each time you turn it on or will it keep the program you have in it?
Thanks Paul

Dobbie - thanks for the tip. This corrosion is rough to the touch much the way it is on copper, kind of strange. I'll try the toothpaste.

Paul - I've left it in "Old Coins" mode and it remembers it each time I turn it on. I haven't tried using the notches but I suspect it would remember that setting also. I bought an F2 for my boys and it doesn't keep the settings when powered down but not a big pain.

Thanks,

Kent
