First Time out with AT Pro

Got my AT Pro Thursday and today I had a chance to get it in the field. Went to a local Omaha park that has been good to me in past. While running in Pro-Coins mode I had a solid repeatable, but soft 80-82. Dug down 8" and pulled up a 1899 Barber dime. Had never found a barber in this park before. Snow is gradually going away. Can't wait to get this unit out again. Was very impressed for the first time out.

I sometimes delay digging those signals you described, kind of like delaying the gratification, just knowing that something old is going to come out of the ground soon. I like to make those wonderful moments last as long as possible .

I love reading reports like this, cause I dig silver dimes at 8"+ alot. And when I hear someone complain that the AT-Pro can't go deep I just roll my eyes, and move on.

I haven't had a problem with my Pro going deep, even with the 5x8 I have dug out indianheads at 7-8 inches. You really do have to pay attention to some of those soft signals though with the 5x8 coil.

Hi Bob, glad to hear you are liking the AT Pro, Awsome machine, try Pro zero , iron audio on and discrim set at 00, sounds a bit silly i know but you get a much smoother signal in trashy areas and its easier to pick out the good stuff from the trash (runs quieter) sound backwards i know but believe me it works, cheers Andy

If you want to hear low, medium, and high tones though in 00 discrim, you have to turn Iron Audio OFF. Otherwise 0-70 are medium tones.

You can run with iron audio on in pro zero 00 discrim and you will still hear the iron clearly, Unmistakeable/ , dont forget that a deep silver coin on its side will NOT always give you a high tone , more important is the smooth 2 way signal however faint, if you are only digging by the id numbers and high tones you are definatly missing good targets, you will also find that turning iron audio off when in pro zero 00 discrim you will hear lots more cunfusing noises, like i said in previous post , running iron Audio on will make your machine easier to use, i compete with the E Trac boys week in and week out and very rarely come away with less than them, some have even converted to the PRO regards Andy

I love reading these first time out reports. I got my AT Pro nearly a year ago and immediately had some health problems and had to have two hip replacements. I haven't been able to have my first time out but hope it comes soon. Right now I can swing the coil, get down and dig, but can't get back up without help! So if you see an old codger crawling around on the ground please stop and lend a fellow a hand won't you? I already got a lot of suspicious eyes cast my way when I first started trying to get up and down out in my front yard. Some lady saw me crawling over to a tree for support and thought I had had a stroke and called an ambulance for me! I dodn't make it into the house before the Fire Department, a police car and an ambulance arrived! Quite embarassing trying to explain why an old coot was crawling around on his hands and knees for no apparent good reason! Well thanks for the report and good luck with your new baby. Onus

yes - zero is very very informative. and i really want to re-remphasize the comments about not just digging the high tones. silver on its side and deep will not give you those distinctive high tones. i have dug a lot of silver b/se i dig lower tones/vdis. anyway, amazing machine - talk about no buyer's remorse!

Hi ba5online, you are welcome to our comments regarding the AT Pro my freind, ive been lucky enough to own and use most of the top end machines including the E Trac throughout my long detecting addiction and can honestly say the Pro rates with the best of them if used correctly, take a look on youtube at the guy ( E Trac vs AT Pro on iffy signals) I dont think he tried to make the Pro look bad but he did a great job in doing so because he was using it like someone who had never detected before, note that he has notched out segments and where they were/ If he had been running with nothing notched out there would not have been iffy signals guarenteed , notching out just one segment can change a good signal to a iffy signal , you are far better running pro zero and learn the sweet tones for best results buddy cheers Andy

Yes I saw that video clip also and I was thinking the same thing. Ive seen some of his other clips also and Im picking he either doesnt really take the time to learn his machines or he is pandering to look good to the AT PRO detractors. I can pick his voice straight away now and I certainly wouldnt take his opinion on any future detectors I may plan on purchacing.
