First time out with Ace 250

First let me say I am a long time user of a GTI1500. A wonderful coin hunting machine. I have really got used to knowing the size before I dig. First thing I noticed about the ACE, even though it is 1.4 lb lighter than the 1500, is that it seemed a little front heavy with the stock coil but that's ok.
I thought I would try it out at an old house, that I was told by neighbors, had been hunted several times by others. Even though, with my 1500 I had found 2 indian head pennies, a silver dime,a buffalo nickel, an old UAW 20 yr pin, a piece of costume jewelry and a double handful of clad. I guess they missed that :)! First I tried the stock coil. It takes a little getting used to, but I think I will get the hang of it with a little more practice.
I then decided to try the sniper coil. Now that little feller will get in there and sniff them coins out. I found about 10 more pennies and a nickel that I had missed with my 1500. 8 of those pennies were found in an area about 12" in diameter. I guess they were too close for my 1500 to separate them good, or, I was in too big of a hurry. The nickel was beside something ferrous, that was close enough to mask it from the 1500, but the sniper picked them apart. Now I can say you never hunt out a place until you go over it with the sniper!

The sniper is a coin spill picker upper. I like to run the sens at 1 or 2 bars and get right next to the play ground equipment. I'm glad to hear there is still unfrozen ground in you area....

Yes in deed :wiggle: Those Little coils Pick em out. I have always been keen on those little coils. Sniff around those areas others can not get into with those BIG bad coils
I have found some of my best finds with the tiny little coils:detecting:

I sure like mine. I think it's almost a "must have"
for the ace machines for anyone digging in trashy or
busy areas. I have all three coils, but if I had to
recommend one or the other as a "first add on" coil
to get, I would recommend the sniper first, and then
the big one later. The big coil is just like the stock
coil, but on a dose of steroids. But the sniper makes
the ace act like a whole different detector when it comes
to weeding out the goodies from the trash. And it goes
pretty deep and hits hard too. Not much wishy wash using
the sniper. You can walk along and bang, bang, bang
one after another, cuz it's view is smaller and it pinpoints
real fast being a small circle coil. It's good for flower beds,
tight spots, anywhere the other coils get kinda cumbersome.
But I also use it on larger plots.. I see less at a time,
but what I see and dig goes by pretty fast. Sometimes my
coin count per an hour would be better with the sniper,
than the bigger coils when out hunting yards for coins.
