First hunt of the year, first time out for a real hunt with my Explorer II and my first Barber dime!!!!
Hit some Forest Preserves yesterday with a buddy which started off a little chilly 26 degrees but warmed up nice to low 40's and sunny.
Things started off slow for me learning my machine and wasted a good 20 minutes listening to a barrage of sounds before I noticed my in-line probe was
left on. I watched my buddy pull out three Barber dimes before I even got really started.
Took a break for 5 minutes along the DuPage river enjoying the sun then decided to hit the bottom of a hill that runs along the river. Within 15 minutes I pulled
out three Rosies and a silver Washington. Big smile on my face as last year I was skunked on silvers and what prompted me to upgrade to the Explorer II.
About 10 minutes later I got a sweet one way signal but couldn't get it to repeat any other direction. Dug it anyway and was rewarded with my first Barber dime - 1916S.
We ended up with 8 silvers between us. 4 Barber dimes, 3 Rosies, 42 Washington, 1904 V-nickel and 4 wheaties
Really loving the EXII with the 10x12 SEF. Got a little heavy after 4.5 hours but I'll get used to it.
Thanks for looking!
