First time out this year and decided to use the 3KHzs coil on my XT70.. Went to the park a few blocks from my house where the original courthouse once stood.. Was digging junk and a few modern coins and the junk items always had a wide range of VDI number.. The coins don't vary more than 2 numbers(36-38 ) I went to the discrimination pattern that I modified for high silver.. Found a small high-tone that locked on as a dime 36-38 vdi and at 5" measure found a bit of a silver rim sticking out.. I knew it was silver but I don't ever field clean (good thing!!) and without taking the dirt off I placed it some sliced wet foam rubber I have in a pill bottle to keep good finds separate from each other.. I thought "good day" figuring I found a rosie or merc.. I got back to the house and started to rinse my finds under running water.. A few modern, 37 wheatie and a copper nugget (glacial till area).. I removed the silver dime from the bottle and started to rinse and a beautiful seated lady appeared !!!! YAHOO!!!! I grabbed my magnifying glass and what a beauty.. Here's some pics..
I don't think I'll be taking that 3KHzs coil off for a long time!!!!

Way to go Cosmic, I'll bet that dime was in the ground for a looooong time. Can you imagine how many people have walked right over it?Congrats.

Ain't that old silver pretty when it comes out of the ground. I just love the Seated Liberty coins!!! Nice dig!!!

Let's see.......... 3kHz coil.............. TID not varying more than two notches............... where have I heard that before? :bouncy: HH Randy

Not only a seated but a Carson City to boot!!! That is one terrific coin find and one to be proud of. Your story is a great argument in favor of the 3khz coil.

Congrats!
Mike

THANK YOU Randy!!
John61boy, I usually run in all metal with the sensitivity of 26-27 and when the iron signals get to bad I back off the sensitivity until it drops out.. I was a bit overwhelmed in the trash so I set a silver pattern discriminating everything except 28-44 and sensitivity about 20-24..
Thanks all.. Yep a CC to boot!!!

The only 1877 coin I've ever found was an IH and those are high value, congrats on a very nice seated coin, thanks for the silver setting. HH

Congrats on that great coin! I really like it! It is in nice condition to be so old! Good work for sure, Beale.
