Went to a local county park to one of the older sections...Spent from 11am til 6pm hunting with a friend who is up from North Carolina. I found 1 1944 Merc dime and $3.93 in change. Oldest coins were 1916 Wheat and 1940 and 1941 Nickels.
All coins from this area look like garbage, because of the salt and lime content in the ground near the lake. The Merc had a nail up against it and made it hard to pinpoint. You can see the rust stain. I nicked it up pretty bad with the shovel...Glad it was not a valuable coin!
