Been in California allot longer than expected due to girlfriends illness(Probably will have to move here due to her insurance). Well, After reading Capt_SE's finds from the beach got me motivated finally to take the drive from the valley to the beach(Only about 30-45 minutes) except in California ya got to much traffic so more like 1-2 hours depending on freeway or side roads. Anyway the low tide was at 5:30 pm so I left at 1:30 so's to beat the traffic and have some time to hunt before the low. I used the Sovereign Elite And man what a difference, no chatter at all( It's never been near salt water so wasn't sure how it would be, only have had it a few months and don't use it much do to the fact I've only used Tesoro's for years. I got to the beach and it was just starting to recede so I just kicked back and enjoyed the scenery if you know what I mean(Ha,Ha). About 45 minutes later I started my hunt going straight for the wet sand, within about 5 minutes get a signal and it was a memorial then another after about 15 minutes I get a deep signal and start digging about a foot and a half I hit the hard surface and still the target is still in the hole, for you people who have never hunted wet sand it caves in on itself do to the water table and the waves still coming in. So I put the scoop into the hole and step down hard into the hard pack and I recheck the hole "Got It", start shaking the scoop and there it was a mans wedding band the size of a quarter. I was stoked, first time hunting the beach and got gold. Not allot of signals but did manage a few quarters, a sac dollar, the fake lock w/ heart, a three connected ring thing that says 14k but from Korea(who knows), and some trash. I would like to thank Captn_SE for motivating me to get out there. I have bought a pulse machine that should be here next Thursday, can't wait. Also as you can see in the picture I killed my scoop, does anyone know of a sturdy scoop???
