First time at the sandbar.

Took my kayak out today to the sandbar where the serious boaters hang out, drink, and party. Was pleased to find a volleyball net set up about 20 feet from shore in two feet of water. The weather was gorgeous, 72 degrees with a bright blue sky. Had the place to myself.

I brought along my fiberglas winter driveway markers which I was going to use to set up some sort of grid but decided instead to use the volleyball net as my point of reference. I spent an hour and a half doing about 1800 sq. ft. which is about 1 % of the whole sandbar.

Here are the good, the bad, and the ugly of my finds:

The good news is that the pull tabs mean that there may be gold there. The bad news is that the earring seems to be junk, can't find a .925 on it and the stone is way too big to be real.

Yeah! That center picture tells a lot about that place..those rotten shot shell bottoms really ping in hard like a big gold ring, old caps, oldish tabs and a volleyball net? I'm thinking theres gotta be some gold and silver in there for sure. Nobody can miss those shell and tab signals...the clad looks stained enough to have been there a while too...that place is well worth the effort I'd say...keep us posted, can you clean it out before winter you think?

It'll be tough to go over all of this place by winter. A boat with a motor would help; takes me 40 minutes to kayak there. But, I expect that to improve as I get in kayaking shape. Don't get it this year, I'll have something to look forward to in 2014. There's also a similar site on another lake I need to check out but it's 30 miles away with 10 miles on a dirt road. Ain't this hobby the best!??

You gosh darn skippy this hobby is the best! I'm all riled up about this location of yours...I'm gonna throw MY kayak on top of the old sube and have a go at a place only accessible by boat!...Thanks for the excitement and inspiration!:clapping:
