First test with the X50

HotTexas

New member
I'm IMPRESSED :super: After watching the video and reading the Manuel twice, I went to my test garden in the backyard, WOW :clapping: ground balance could not be any easier, My first target was a clad qt. 8" deep now before I tell you what it did let me tell ya 6 that's right 6 previous detectors that I owned would not hit on this quarter, I not going to give any brands or models here because I don't wont to start a war :starwars: But the X50 had a very faint audio but the Number ID said it was a 44 at 8" deep and was DEAD ON. Now having said this I'm finding the X50 is not hitting hard on quarters like it does on dimes pennies and even Nichols audio wise. I having to rely on the numbers if the target is deep.

Next target was a silver dime at 5" deep no problems here Dead on again..

Pinpoint OOOOOH My, Do I like this :clapping: Who ever came up with this needs a raise and a kiss on the cheek from me. :cheekkiss: and no I not gay.

Before dark I played around in the yard a little and got a hit 44 but bounce around down 13 and I thinking it trash but if you want to learn your detector you have to dig it to see so I did first pop up a soda can all chopped up from a mower I got it out of the hole ran it across the coil and said 13 and I think damm whats wrong here, rechecking the hole I'll be dang it's a quarter two inches further down about 1 inch from the can I thinking again WOW :clapping:

I'm also reading some of the other post about how the X50 and X70 would make a good first detector, I'm not so sure about this for some people that has never detect before. I'm not saying they can't learn, I'm just saying it may not be the best detector to learn on.

Anyway I don't know just when I'll get to go hunting just yet, but just wanted to let you know I IMPRESSED so far :beers:

Good read and always nice to hear from other people with these machines. I have no problem pinpointing with my X70 either and I love it. The X70 is my first detector. IMO While the "X" series of detectors are easy to learn it takes a certain mindset/acceptance/understanding/intelligence/homework to go from box to fort knox = to each their own and I learn day by day ;) .

One question I have for you is how long has your test garden been set/established and was the ground/soil dry or moist when you searched it? Just wondering and thanks for the informative post HotTexas ;)

Thanks ICE, the test garden was put in about 15 years ago, the ground here right now is very very dry and very hard. WE NEED RAIN !!!! When IKE came here we got 1/10

Your gonna love it! Had my x50 for about a month now and been out with it a few times. I am starting to learn it. I put a 10.5 DD coil on yesterday (never used a DD before) so now I have a little more to learn. It is bone dry here in N.W. Ga. also and that coupled with the moderate to high mineralization of the soil here is making things very interesting for learning a new machine. So far the x50 has performed better than ANY detector I've used over the last 30 yrs.

Congrats on your new X-50! I know you are going to like it! It does like quarters and dimes that is a fact. They both seem to hit real well. Good luck to you and happy nunting, Beale.

What a joy it is to see someone else enjoying an X-Terra 50, with all the talk around the X70. I also hit coins down in the 8" range with clear faint audio and accurate ID display. All-around it is one hell of a good performing detector considering its light weight, excellent pinpointing feature and ease in ground balancing.

Best of luck with your new :minelab: X-Terra 50.
