First test run with my new AT GOLD

My AT GOLD was waiting from me when I got home today. I put it together and air tested quickly, then headed to a close by spot. I hit a section of ground that I have been over twice with my Cibola, and my buddy hit last weekend with his Fisher F2. It was late so I was moving kinda quick and trying all the modes. I dug a older tab, and two pieces of alum. before I had a nice solid hit. Bang first penny out from 2 inches. Next hit was a nickel at 5 inches, so I threw it in my pouch and continued. Next was another nice hit but I could tell it was deeper, penny at least 7 inches. A few minutes later another penny around 4-5 inches. Iron audio worked great and could really start to hear differences in the tones. So I get home and start cleaning the coins a little to see what I got. Pennies were 80s or so, then I started cleaning a dirt caked nickel. This nickel started looking strange for some reason, then I realized it is a buffalo nickel. May not be that special to some, but this is the first one I have ever found. It is a coin I have wanted since I was a kid. It makes it really cool that I detected it!

The AT GOLD works great and I really like the operation! More to come after a few more uses!

WTG Jason on the buffalo nickel, very cool find

The AT Gold is great for deep turf coins, can already tell you're going to find more the Gold is one mean machine.

Like most detectors, the deeper weaker coin signals will ID incorrectly. Dig those too, eventually you get accustomed to figure out which of the weaker signals may be coming from a coin.

Before I forget, if probably already ordered the 8.5"X11" DD coil and if you haven't please do order one. Must have coil for deep turf coins, yet still sensitive on the tiniest of finds.

Congrats on your first Buffalo,
Paul (Ca)

Thanks Paul. 8.5X11 DD was on order before I even got my AT GOLD. Kellyco had it on backorder, but it shipped yesterday. I really need to work with my buddy that just got into detecting. I don't have an area to do a coin garden, but he does!

That's exciting and fun! Congrats. My first Buffalo nickel was from an old school yard. It was relatively dark but I knew I had dug a nickel. Put it in the bag and continued. When I got home, started quickly rubbing the dirt off of the clad coins to place them in the change jar. Started rubbing this nickel and a buffalo started to appear. I said to myself, "Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot". Yup, and with the date intact! It's worth...oh...oo...ah..about a dime; but who cares! That was fun.

AJAJ, That's funny, I said the same thing last night when I started cleaning mine. The only thing that sucks is NO date on mine, it is just to worn.

Those "firsts" are exciting finds, something you will always remember. The AT Gold is sure to get you many. Congratulations. Happy hunting.
