Cabin fever is setting in, so I grabbed my AT Pro and headed out to a local snow hill. I found 4 coins, ( 3 x loonies :)) in about an hour. It looks like there was one heck of a party recently due to multiple beer cans, So I did my good deed, picked them all up and cashed them in at a bottle recycle place on the way home. I got a nice payout of $6.25. And, just prior to leaving, I saw a Canadian Tire 10 cent paper bill sticking out of the snow. I picked that up too, adding to a complete daily total of $9.40. Not too bad!

I was thinking we were about ready for a first snow hunt. Nice payday on your first one John. HH jim tn

Nice loot. Weather starting to get bad here in northern NY. Had an inch of crusty snow here Sunday that was building up on the coil each swing. Was rewarded with a large silver earring, stainless steel ring, and a few Wheaties. The cold is starting!

Nice finds, John. I have a question. I notice you put some type of heat on your detectors to keep the batteries up and you don't get in the water due to the ice. Is there anything a person getting in the water when it's 40-50 degrees can do to extend the life of their batteries?

You could encase those heating pads in a water proof bag, then tape it to the detector. You could also warm them up, getting longer operating time or use the following AA batteries:

-Energizer e2 lithium AA L91 -40

Nice totals, John! I wish I was in a state that had a 5c or 10c bottle/can deposit. I haul 'em in and recycle 'em, but only get 30c / pound
I do get that warm fuzzy feeling, though!

We have homeless people who bottle pick all day......sometimes making $100.00 a day. I often run into them in the woods, and sometimes strike up a conversation with them. I have given them some $$$ a couple, times, as they just had some terrible luck in their life.

Nice haul for early in the season John. I have only found one five dollar bill while detecting. It was wrapped around a single tall grass straw stalk and was waving like a flag.
