First six months finds of MD'ing with my 6000/Di Pro!

I recently posted my finds from my "honey hole" in the White's section. Thought I'd post all my finds since I started MD'ing in July after picking up a 6000/Di Pro at a local swap meet for $120. I can't imagine doing any better with any other machine. My sons enjoy going out with me...my 16 year old has even started his own coin collection. We know more about the history of our community, spend quality time together and every trip out is like getting birthday presents! This is an AMAZING hobby!

This is what appears to be the state of Ohio cut out of heavy steel. Found it on the site of my great grandfathers home (now my brother lives there in a house he built on the land). Behind that is a 1909 Firestone tire guage. Also found a vintage cotel (horse/cow) bell!

Tectonator......

Very nice finds. If you can find a 6

Thanks, Hombre! That's great to know. Might make a good Christmas present to myself. ;)

There is a spot where I found one of the silver quarters that is very trashy. A smaller coil would really help.

you are cleaning up.....i have a 5900 i bought at a yard sale 10 years ago for 75.00..... needless to say ithas payed for it self many times over....they are a very good all around machine....esspecially if you learn the different modes ...

That's great, keep up the good job.:fisher:

tectonator, yes it's fun, eh? :twodetecting: Like gambling: you never know what that next spin of the roullette wheel or slot machine will reveal  At a mininum, you'll pay for your gas and the machine. And hopefully, you get some key date stuff, etc.... And with the price of silver these days, hard to argue with the pix you shared!

The 6000 Di pro. is an excellent and versatile machine. Even though it's probably pushing 15 or 20 yrs. old since this particular incarnation of the 6000 came out, yet there are guys out there who ...... to this day ...... will not part with theirs. When Whites came out with supposed next gen. models in the mid to later '90s (xlt, etc....), there were guys who regretted ever switching away from their DI pro's. They are good on wet salt, and even niche stuff like old-town urban demolition hunting, park-turf, etc...

They aren't going to compete, depth-wise, with some of the latest power-house machines in certain situations. But for all-around usage, it's great. My buddy hunts with one, and can get a LOT of information just by sound, and subtle clues on just the way the needle bounces, etc....

Just curious, when you say "honey hole", what type site are you getting all your goodies from?

Thanks for the reply. I bought my son a Garrett ACE350 for Christmas. My Whites 6000 Di Pro keeps up with it no problem, meaning he hasn't found anything more than I have. ;)

Some of our goodies came from the front yard of a 19th Century home in a small town. That's where the SL dime and Barber dime camer from. Other items came from public parks that are probably considered hunted out, but I keep finding stuff. Really, we've hit lots of places...school yards, parks, homes, swimming pools...it all adds up. 2012 hasn't been very good, though. Found some neat relic stuff but no silver yet (few wheaties, though). Gotta find us another honey hole! :)

Can you of anyone else, say how the Di Pro differs from the Di series 3?

Is yours a 6000/Di Pro-sl or just the Di Pro? (blue control box or black)
If its blue then I don't think it has the signal balance control does it?
