the kids wanted to go out and play in the yard this evening so i figured i would detect a little around the yard. found a couple nickels and a few pennies, but just before i called it an evening i got a good signal it was saying a dime so i dug and low and behold a shiny 1944 quarter, it was fantastic, it was my first silver and Ive only been coin shooting for about a month.:detecting:

great find!..nice goin'..what was the depth on the quarter?..did you get a depth reading?

With that you will have a blast looking for others. I still remember my first silver dime, a 1964 but it was still silver!! Now hundreds of silver coins later and 2 gold coins I still can remember where I found that dime. Good luck in all your treasure adventures.

Great find! I have been using Fisher detectors since early 70's and the F2 is a fine addition to their line. Do you have the mini coil that was offered as a holiday special (free) with unit? It is a very deep small coil and works wonders in trashy areas. See my blog on Techie Topic for April and the picture of finds with F2 around an old foundry building as well as a field test too. Here's to "diggin it"! Larry (bjsone)

the coin was about 3 inches deep i don't remember what the depth reading showed but when i used the pin point i think it said 2, i have not used the 4 inch coil yet but i hope to. me and a friend plan to go to an old park i heard of from one of the long term residents of this town, apparently it was used a long time ago there was a couple of gazebos and some playground equipment there he said it was a very popular park when he was a kid and he is now about 60 so i hope the finds will be good, i just moved to this small town of only about 3000 people so i hope it hasn't been pounded we will see, its cool because this town is the second oldest in Montana and has allot of old history so many places to go.

thanks for the input!..i have a f2,and noticed it is extremely fast in the trash!..was the coin very close to trash?

Hi,
I have an F4 and a F2 and they both are super detectors, last week found a 10K gold ring with the F2 - great detectors. Also, sounds like you're having fun with it, that's great. This is a great hobby. Good luck hunting.
