First silver with the Cibola.

Macaco

New member
Hi All,

I've had the Cibola for a couple weeks now and I've been hitting local school yards and parks. I have found a ton of clads but until yesterday I hadn't found any jewelry.

I did some research about parks in my area and found one with two, big sand filled tot lots with play equipment. I hit one of them last night and got my first silver jewerly with the new machine. I'm going back tonight to hit the other one.

The 'Q' in the lower right of the pic is silver. So is the chain and the key-ring attached to it. I used a small file to cut into both the ring and the 'Q' to make sure they're not plated. I looked it all over real close with a 10x loupe and didn't find any markings but it's obviously silver.

The ring to the left of it is cheap, gold plated junk. I found all this stuff in about an hour in the same sand box.

Hi every body

I got my first silver a few days ago with my new Cibola.

Got my Cibola on 9/11/2007. It was used but the factory supplied battery still had a full charge on it. That battery went down day before yesterday.

here's a photo

The 1944 dime I got at Fair Park in Little Rock, AR. The silver ring I got at Mills park in Bryant, AR just out side of LR.

The mini ball and musket ball I found close to one of the older settlement areas in central AR.

I really like my Cibola

Nice finds. Were you using the standard coil?

That Cibola is a pretty nice machine isn't it?

I wasn't sure if the fixed GB was the way to go for my area but it turns out that the ground in my county is so mild that I can run the machine wide open, supertuned almost everywhere I hunt. A few spots I have to back off a little on the supertuning but not much.

Ha Steve,

Didn't really mean to be a show off, I just got lucky.

I got that 1944 dime in a park. I noticed that they had cut some bushes in an area where they had been growing for as long as I can remember. I also found a couple of wheat pennies, about 50 old game tokens, two tokens that have an eagle and says FREEDOM on one side and rays emanating from the center on the other side, an old aluminum token that people used to get their names stamped on by a machine for a dime. That spot is real trashy and I've been over that spot with all three of my detectors. I only have a standard coil on my Cibola but it pulled more stuff out of there than my other two MDs. I don't know why people say they wouldn't want to hunt in trashy areas with a Cibola. I have a 4" coil on my Quick Draw II but it doesn't do as well in trash as the Cibola.

Steve, I got a signal like a penny in a church yard, I dug up a rusty nail at about 3 inches? I didn' think it sounded like a nail. I ran the coil over that hole and got a signal like a penny again. I dug a couple more inches and there was a penny.

I got that silver ring ba a tennis court. When that silver ring hit, it didn't sound like a coin but I just had a gut feeling it was a good target. The Cibola performs so well, I just love it.

Some thing I've noticed, in the Garrett and Bounty Hunter forums people don't seem to be near as happy with their MDs as they do here at the Tesoro forum.

I know I'm very satisfied with my Cibola. It seems to do well in the soil around here without GB. We must have fairly mild soil here.

Hay Steve, I tried some thing new to me today. I got a wireless head phone from Radio Shack. It seems to work great. No wires, light ear pieces and it goes behind the head instead of over the top. I cannot detect any interference from the transmitter. I'll try it for a while and see if I encounter any problems.

keep on diggen

Hay Steve,

I think I found a gold and a silver pendant today.

I say I think because they are not marked but I think they're the good stuff.

Anyway I'm very excited about being able to find small jewelry like that. Couldn't have done it without my Cibola. I'm ready to start finding more jewelery. HOW?

Read my post I wrote earlier today titled " I did what Monte said and look what happened ".

In that post there are two pictures of my finds today and an explanation of what inspired me to do it.

Good hunting

I'm getting more aggressive with the new machine. I'm starting to hunt a lot of places that I always figured would be worked out.

I've done some air testing with silver and gold chains and the Cibola hits them pretty hard so I'm confident about being able to detect that kind of target in the field.

I've been digging everything unless it's obviously an iron sound. I run my discrim at the lowest point in most places so I won't miss the fine stuff.

It's actually inspiring to see good stuff like that which other guys have found. Gets me excited about getting back out so I can find more good stuff.
