First Silver With New Excalibur 800

Have been an AT Pro user for a bit and it's a great machine on land or the shallows. But I wanted a dedicated water/beach machine and the Excalibur, I hear, is a great way to go. Bought one a couple of weekends ago from Streeter's in NH and only have about 8 hours on it. Whew, steep learning curve! Been picking up lots of clad, pulltabs, and bottle caps; the more I use it, though, the less of the latter I'll probably dig. Went to a local lake with zero visibility, so I stuck to <5 feet of water. This nice signal comes through, but man, it was a tough dig even with the heavy water scoop. Small rocks and hard clay really made it a challenge. The AT Pro would have found it nicely also, but the Excalibur, so far, have been fun.

Congrats on your first silver! You will come to like the Excalibur, especially in and around saltwater. The variance in tones takes practice as you have seen but there is no mistaking coins and rings. I always dig aluminum tabs and pull rings but have gotten pretty good at ID'ing bottle caps and the wanky sound of foil. Use that ATP in fresh water to try and hit gold chains. I've had good success with the Excalibur in fresh and salt.
