First Silver with CTX What a Surprise!

Took my new CTX out today for my 2nd time ever "with it" to a "Old School that is well known in our local detecting community" ,

I finally found a Wheat Cent 5" to 6" inches down about 1 hr into hunt , and was filling pretty good with my new detector.

Soon I started to get into a trashy area , so I adjusted down the sensitivity and lowered the Volume gain to help from being overwhelmed.

Working slowly I noticed a nice high tone , and pinpointing showed a nice coin size object , so I stuck in the digger and out popped this beauty, from only about 2-3 inches down .

I'll Take it!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the CTX 3030 forum. I'd also welcome you to the world of CTX detecting, but it appears lady Liberty beat me to that! Congrats on finding BIG silver on your 2nd outing. It appears that there may have been some iron in the hole with it, which could explain why others have passed her by. Did you happen to see what made that stain? Regardless, nice recovery. HH Randy

Thanks for the welcome ,

Yes i noticed what I believed to be a "iron" stain, and did recovery a piece of iron , but I'm not 100% sure on how it was all arranged , due to them getting separated during the dig, and me taking a large plug.

Yes the CTX did a amazing job of locking onto it.

Congratulations. What a awesome coin to find. And just knowing many detectors have swept over this coin. Just goes to show no places ever hunted out.
