First Silver Rosie.

On Wednesday last week I made a trip down to central Ga. My son wanted me to come down and see if I could call him in a wild turkey. I thought that the trip would give me an opportunity to detect some new territory. The gobblers would answer me, start to come and those rascally hens would come and lead them astray.

I hunted two parks in Vidalia. One of them so full of trash that even the 8 inch coil was too big. I also hunted a park in Lyons Ga. Total clad for the three parks was a little over six dollars. Those parks had been hunted hard and the ground showed it by the dead spots in the grass. On Saturday afternoon I decided to work a strip between the sidewalk and the street in an older section of the small town of Ailey. I found seven wheat pennies from the 40's and my very first silver Roosevelt Dime.

I must admit that it was a little exciting to have that nice shiny dime come out of the dirt. I went to my sons house and showed him my nice find and he dug thru his coin jar and pulled out a 1950 rosie to go with my 1954.

That dime made up for the low volume of coins that I found during the trip.

Going back down in about a week to try those turkeys again and I have my eye on some real nice grass strips that I intend to detect.
