I've been wanting to do some detecting on a lot i knew about for over a month. I went there this afternoon and found this Merc, War Nickle and Dog Tax tag along with 45 other coins. I'll go back and keep hammering away. I think i am starting to get my Simplex+ dialed in. HH Jim

Nice finds.... keep in mind those war nickels can read differently.
Some like a regular nickel and some quite a bit higher.
On my Equinox, nickels usually read 12-13, but some war nickels come in at 18 and as high as 22-23.

I Have never found but one war nickel. It rang up in the silver range. Nothing else in the hole. I was confused so i got out 11 war nickels that i have had since 1964. Every one of those 11 range up as nickels on my Sovereign GT. I have no explanation.

Great start to the new year!

All of my found war nickels ring up in the regular nickel range but that could be due to my usual discrimination pattern being pretty tight around the nickel zone. At lower trash sites I'll sometimes search with a looser pattern.
