First Silver Find

I went to the old school tonight with my Explorer for about 45 minutes, and in the first minute I detected a quarter laying right on top of the ground. I knew this was going to be my lucky day. Sure enough, twenty minutes later I got a silver dime reading at 7 inches, and within seconds I was holding my first silver find. Having owned the Explorer for about 2 months, I am very proud of it. I also found a 1935 wheat penny, my oldest find to date. I wish my old buddy Wayne could have been there to see that lovely silver come out of the ground. But don't worry "Shovel Man" there is a lot more where this one came from. Happy Hunting!!!

Your sure on your way now Curtis!! Its just like Bill Murray once said "baby steps" From the lack of replys you can see how spoiled us Minelabbers are. Any silver coin on another user forum atleast gets a few remarks..

Congradulations...
I too am a new Minelaber (actually new to metal detecting as a whole). I've had my Explorer for just under a month and got my first silver (a '57 quarter this past weekend). I found the exact dime you showed in my front yard - but I was playing w/ my neighbors XLT at the time.
Finding a shiny silver sure does make up for the 100 pennies I've dug and who knows how many tabs/and screw tops.
With just over 40 hours on the detector, I can proudly say I'm starting to get the hang of it.
Good job on the silver...now go for the gold!!!
(I'm still searching for my first)
