First silver dollar I ever found. I so happy with the CTX 3030 had it since Aug.and just starting to learn it,I got so much more to learn on it..I hope the picture up loaded am not to good at uploading pictures. I found it a month ago.Been out of detecting so long, now being retired I realized how much I missed it.
Congratulations. I have been metal detecting for 32 years and I have only found one. Yet I introduced a friend of mine to metal detecting a few years back and he (newbie luck) found one (didn't even know what it was) the second time out. Just the way the cookie crumbles
Very nice, indeed!!! It looks to be in great shape. Just curious, how did it ring up on the CTX? Unless it was really deep, I bet it hit hard! I have found one Peace Dollar in the 3 years that I have been at it (found with my F75) and it was like going over a manhole cover!
Roland it hit hard on 44. There was a rusty staple in the hole with it, it was 4 3/4 inches down. I had gotten two mercury dimes a one IHP,and 5 wheat pennies out of the same area in the five and six inch range that day but was a harder hit with the dollar.
Nice! Some metal detector manufactures are going to delete or have more or less deleted silver dollars from the detection list....as people just don't find them very much anymore. You got one of the few!
I remember when I found a Peace dollar. It was 20' away from a Maria Theresa Taler. It was only 29 years, 243 days ago, but who's counting. Still looking for a Morgan, seated and bust style.
I found the 1780 Maria Theresa taler first and thought I was going to s**t a brick. It was only later I found out they have been making them since 1780 and still use the same date. Those were the days.
Sweet find what's the mint mark? it's been 12 yrs since I found my 1st and only-91 cc After I dug mine I shut off my detector and went home lol
