First silver coin!

I've been detecting since march with my M6 and until this weekend had yet to find a silver coin. My brother (MXT Owner) and I were invited to detect at a house in a nearby town that was built in 1904 and was a brothel for some time. I have been hunting with him on several occasion when he has found silver coins, and yet I always came home silverless. My many hours of swinging paid off finally at the old brothel in the grassy strip between the sidewalk and street. Using my stock coil I got a signal that was bouncing between 1/10 and 25 at two inches. It popped out in my first plug and I could tell it was something I hadn't seen. I gave it a rub and was so excited to see a 1900S Barber dime . It was pretty sweet to not only find my first silver coin, but my first coin over 100 years! I ran over to show my brother and he was pretty excited that he was with me when I found it.

Nice first silver!! I have yet to find a silver coin that old. It sure is in great shape. Amazing that it's been sitting there at only 2 inches for a maybe a hundred years! WTG!!

Big congratulations on your first silver coin. I would suggest that you NEVER rub a silver coin when it's dry. It will scratch the surface. I carry a 35mm film canister with a bit of water in it when I detect and when I find an old coin, it goes in there and before you know it, it's clean where you can read the date, etc. Just my little humble advise. Great find jcooking!!!!!!!!! Sure is a pretty one!

Now that you found one there, work the area carefully as it's a good bet there are more goodies. Congrats.:beers:
