First silver coin.

Hello,
Have been at it for 3 weeks now, detecting that is. At first I only hunted in playgrounds to learn the machine......
Then my friend, who has been at it for years, invited me to a park known to have silver coins.
After about an hour.....bingo. Got a nice sweet sound. I asked my friend to check it out. He has an e trac.
He passed his coil over the area and said, jokingly, that I should go away and keep trying.
I dug it and out came a 1943 Mercury dime. Nice and shiny. No "D" mint mark though. Just plain.
I know this isn't much to all of you experts who have been hunting for years, but to me, it was like
wow ! My first silver.
Dan.

Merc dimes are awesome and you found a fine example. I hope you find many more.

Way to go-nice coin! Keep up the good work. Now that you have that sweet sound in your memory banks, you'll be finding plenty more pieces of silver. HH

Congrats!

He says yeti is the same way. he don't care either. As long as it shines...we like it and it puts a big smile on our faces.
wtg on the mercury dime. Its a nice one and I hope you find many more.

Thanks every one.
Quick question? Maybe this should be asked in a different forum?

My garretts pro-pointer is acting up on me. I've only had it 3 weeks.
After I dig a target and use the probe, it beeps when any pressure is
applied to the tip of it. It didn't do this when it was new. Maybe I was
using it too roughly to probe for targets at first.? It still works as long
as I don't apply to much pressure to the tip. Any one have the same
problem?...

Thanks, Dan.

Starting to get the hang of it now. Got my second silver dime today. Lots of digging, but worth it.

Dan.
