Hello,
I'm new to metal detecting. Started hunting in the beginning of April of this year when my friend let me use his Explorer II. I had no luck at finding anything at first, not even a clad coin. Then I read the manual.....da me. After that I started finding clad coins every where. I did find one 1943 Mercury dime. My first.
My same friend bought an E Trac and he loves it. So I got out the credit card and ordered one for myself. I got it on April 28th.
As I have only had it 5 days I have been using it in the "right out of the box" mode. This is weird. I have been hunting this park. It has been hunted to death,
but is known to produce silver once in awhile. I put my gear on, went to the nearest grassy area there, turned on the E Trac, did the noise cancel thing and not 6 feet from the curb on my first swing I got a good signal. 11-44 and a very nice high tone. So of course I dug it. Out popped a 1945 Mercury dime. It was only a couple of inches down. It is so fun to see a nice silvery looking thing pop out at you from under the ground.
Attached is a couple pics of both. First one is the 1943 plain. Then the 1945D. Thanks for reading.
Dan.
