First Silver!! & a Wheatie!

Went to my mother-in-laws house with the kids tonight for an hour. Found two clad quarters and several pennies. I had just told the kids it would be nice to find something older than 1960 when out popped a 1949 D wheat penny. It was in pretty rough shape but it is my first with my detector. Then I proceeded to dig two more zinc pennies when I hit a signal I had never seen before on the Deleon. I dug down six inches and pulled out a near perfect 1957 silver quarter. I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful. My wife was really against me buying the detector but now she doesn't say anything and is actually eager to see what I bring home. Sorry no pictures but my digital camera battery went dead and I have to go buy a new one tomorrow. Any doubts I had about the Deleon are long gone. Man this is one grat machine!!!!!!

:clapping: Congratulations on your first silver and wheat finds. To get a silver quarter as your first silver coin is pretty lucky. WTG! Looks like your really hooked now.

Here is a picture of the coin. I scratched the front of it on accident getting it out of the ground. I learned a VALUABLE lesson!!! Anyway, I think it is a nice coin otherwise.

That is awesome! Where were you that you found such a cool item? You don't have to give me exact location just an idea of where you are finding stuff like this. Thanks!

When the targets get too numerous, slow down a little and let the machine work for you. It'll separate the junk from the goodies. When you find a target that could be junk or good, switch to All Metal and swing over it slowly, watch the meter, it will tell you if it's worth digging. The more you use the machine, the more you'll like it. I've tried small coils, but always go back to the stock coil, I think it works best. Remember, when you're in a trashy spot, slow down and let the machine sort them out.

The best advice I've seen online anywhere ever.

Good job,
