First Silver 2011

Aurium

New member
Greetings all I've been fortunate to get out for a bit while on a business trip. Found my first silver of 2011. I took a picture of it right as I found it, and then after I moved it.

I always hunt tree roots in a park because they sometimes contain little trinkets of glinting silvery joy. But what really surprised me was to see the coin laying on the surface, mostly visible. It's a 1942 plain, Mercury dime. Hopefully I'll get a chance to repeat some more finds tomorrow. Thanks for taking a look.

Ha that's funny.. But I use HiPro almost exclusively now, with the 10 DD coil. And honestly I didn't pay any attention to specific settings aside from doing a good ground balance before I got started. I'm a little rusty since this is the first time I've been out in a few months. Feels good to be back out and finding a few trinkets.. I've had to do a little park hopping this time around, and talking to the local park district employees has been helpful in finding "safe" places to hunt. A tip from a few locals steered me clear of one place that had been on my list, but after chatting a bit they convinced me that one of my target parks was not a safe place for a distracted, head-phoned coil swinger.
