First run with the 705, 28 cents in about an hour

Woo Hoo!!!! Today she arrived. Although I bought this for prospecting I had to give her a test run in the back yard. I found 2 dimes and 8 pennys in about an hour. Then the sun sat, so till tomorrow! One thing I noticed is, it was very hard to dig my ground with a small hand digger, I broke out the shovel and quickly turned my back yard into several pit falls. I had to do it the house dates back to the 1800's so chances of finding something cool is promising. Just cant do that if I go to a park or something, maybe their ground is softer... At any rate she worked good, I did a quick ground balance and away I went, I'm happy with my first hour of swinging it.

More to come...

Mike.

i have a x70 and i love hitting those old house places. Good luck!

Hi all,

Way to go Mike....................let us know how you go prospecting with the 705.

Regards to all

Congrats on the hunting! I would look into Preadator Tools. They have some great diggers that will help you very much, Beale.

I havent found anything old yet, they were all current coins, but I move the coil 6 inches in any direction and I have a target and thats with pattern 2 on which is discriminating the most segments. So today after work I found the targe ID chart and I'll do a quick scan of the whole yard and try and dig some 44's and other coins of more intrest, then go back and get the rest later. Come on 7 hours... :) ha ha...

Much better with day 2 and learning the pinpoint feature so I'm not digging craters, I found a 31 nickel, 4 wheat backs, 6 current quarters 2 current dimes and a handful of current pennys (maybe 20). all the wheats and nickel were about 8-12 inches down buried with a toy metal truck and a glass marble, right under a shade tree, must have been a kids play spot... I think the oldest wheat was a 1930 I'm at work so I cant see at the moment. We'll see what today brings. There were targets everywhere just not enough sun to dig them all.

Great start! Maybe later you can post some pictures. Good Luck.

Wish i had a back yard like that. That's great that you're finding the old stuff right in your own yard. Hope you dig a lot more and have a lot of fun. As you've already discovered, it's a great hobby!

Way to go... you are off to a great start. I still find things in my back yard 2 years after getting my 70.
