I started MDing 2-3 months ago with a Ace 300, then bought a Ace 250 from Kellys. After that I wanted a UW tector but couldn't afford the good ones. So I bought a cheap one from wallmart online for $98. It lasted 1/2 hr under water, sent it back. I now see Walmart selling them for half that, BUT DO NOT BUY ONE if you plan on useing it in water...JUNK!!!!!

Tks to a guy on this site who seen I wanted to UW detect but couldn't afford a good one. He contacted me and today I went out for the first time with a XL500TR. After about 20 mintues I finally got it setup right, I THINK????....My first find was a girls bracklet. After that a couple quarters, few hairpins, a tab, and 1 earring....Not great, but for never useing this type of detector before I was happy. Allot harder to use than the " turn on an go " 250 I have.

Anyway heres a photo of my first find with my Garrett UW tector. It may be 20+ yrs old, but its 200% better than that foriegn pc of junk I bought new.
Tks Jim

Way to go! Them ol' Garretts are built like tanks and keep on finding the goodies! Still have a ADS Deepseeker VLF/TR that air tests a '73 US Dime @ 11 inches on both in Automatic VLF and the TR circuit! It manually ground balances for all soils for better depth including the blacksand westcoast ocean beaches!
