First Ride on the CTX Train

I took my CTX out this evening after work to a few parks that I and others have hunted hard with the E-Trac. I wanted to especially try a new "combined" mode that I created in the Exchange 2 software on my PC. I ran a wide open screen. This mode is like TTF on steroids. Having multiple tones for conductive signals makes it soooo much faster and easier to home in on the good targets (I had the high tone set from CO30-48 then low iron grunt for 49 and 50 to deal with high falses). It was a breeze - I just listened for the deep high tones and it was a coin 95% of the time - always in close proximity to iron. This explains why the E-Tracs have missed them - the ground didn't get hunted that much in TTF because of the mid to high range trash (pull tabs, screw caps and foil). This mode just smokes right through it. Hunting in this way also made me realize how much iron is in this park - LOTS - I never really noticed it that much in multi-conductive on the 'Trac - and so i missed all this stuff. Very cool.

I love the balance of the machine - it feels so much lighter to swing than the E-Trac. Stability is great, the wireless headphone setup is brilliant - made digging a lot nicer.

All in all - my initial impressions are highly positive - if you're a TTF hunter with the E-Trac - this thing will blow you away with the combined feature. If you've only ever hunted in multi-tone conductive mode on the E-Trac this machine will feel very natural to you - and if you take a chance at using the combined feature - you will find stuff that you have missed - I proved that to myself tonight.

20 Wheats (all over 7" deep)
1939 Nickel
1954 Rosie
1943 Merc

Nice finds brother...you killed it with the new machine tonight!

Posts like this really make me  Hopefully the wife will understand the "need" for the CTX 3030!! Very good informative post and nice finds.

Congrats on the nice recoveries. Good to see you enjoyed what the CTX 3030 has to offer........

Couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks for posting. HH Randy

Doc - That is a very good report. Thanks for posting that.

I have used TTF on the E-Trac but the grouping of all accepted targets with the same tone wasn't fun for me (too much). I did use it in very thick iron though and it worked well. It truly is combined now, best of both worlds.

I get the feeling it will be my number one mode now as the tone buckets (or whatever they are called) coupled with the low tones on iron, and with a softer volume gain on deeper targets, will make going into iron and being selective MUCH EASIER than TTF on the E-Trac imo.

I'm meeting a couple new detector buddies who are telling me the parks around here are hunted out. One has an Ace 250 and the other an AT Pro. My CTX gets here next week so I'm ready blow them out of the water.

My brother just called - he's out with his CTX - and he just bagged a seated from a heavily hunted park.:goodnight:
