First Production Sharpshooter

 Does anyone out there remember the original Sharpshooter ? I had a SS II that I wish I had never sold. I think the first one was better. I would like to know your experience with this unit. Thanks.

Do you refer to the SS 1? I have an ad showing one. It has the same enclosure as the Big Bud models and the early Tracker and Quickdraw and probably shares some parts or circuitry with the Big Bud. With the Time Ranger and Land Star, BH went with the oval enclosure and there were likely other changes made at that time. BH was never one to brag up internal circuitry changes, so there may be many undocumented differences between early SS II and later SS II units. Some folks seem to like the Big Bud era machines. but maybe they're also recalling an earlier time where they simply found more good items for whatever the reason, be it less competition, better access, fewer trash items or maybe the older designs have that certain something, their analog roots or whatever, that's been lost in the translation on newer models.

If I recall right George Payne designed the original Big Bud series.. He I think owned or was part owner of Bounty Hunter..Plus he designed many other detectors Someone once said he invented discrimination circuits. Not sure about that to be honest... I bet Monte knows !!

 Yep, that's the one. I certainly hope that George Payne designed it because I consider him one of (if not THE) best detector designers around. Just ask anyone who owns one of the Tecknetics like the Mark 1. Those machines are coin vaccums. :detecting: I have metal detected since 1989 and regardless of which company's units I own, ,,,I always kept at least one good BH unit around. The Bounty Hunters (in my opinion) are the most FUN to use because of all the features they have. It's too bad about their quality control issues because they have always had the potential to being #1 in the industry. I will be getting this Sharpshooter in a few days and it feels like Christmas to me! :clapping:
