First problem

bought a coil used...8 inch coil wire does not want to go thru the lower shaft on se! Is this wire to thick to go thru the shaft ...or is there a trick?

a little wider...I tied a shoestring to coiled wire and had to pull thru! Apparently the coiled part was a little wide....strange... Think it would just fit right thru.....even if coiled part slightly wider....just will get an extra lower shaft so I do not have to keep changing...

You will be leaving it on the lower shaft anyway so it won'tmatter. I have a shaft for each coil.

Get a Sun Ray probe, then all the wires are on the outside. I have lots of coils on their own lower shafts so I can change to a different coil in under ten seconds. That whole retarded thread the needle routine is too monotonous to me.

I fought with the same thing...when I bought a new Ex. II lower shaft for my XS to use on the bigger coils The guy told me I may have too take a piece of copper solid wire and use it to fish the coil cable thru the lower shaft.....and it works fine. I get my wire from a piece of 12/2 romex long enough to work with...I am an electrician so I have plenty of that at home.....but a shoe string will work also.......just another obstickle to slow you down.....spring is a coming.....good time to learn all this so when it comes time to hunt you will be ready.

Thanks I was almost to embarassed to ask! But I sat here till I figured a way around it! Thought no...they would not make the rods to narrow! Guess they did!!!

Yeah you are probably right but....for now an extra lower rod will do the trick! Will be looking for one soon....seems the upper shaft is fine though....

I've done the pull-it-through string trick. Before that (no string), I whipped the rod like a fishing pole then would quickly grab the connector before it retracted itself into the rod.
Once through, I felt like standing on the coil and pulling it like all get out to make it the longest coil cord preventing it from ever happening again.
I kept the string attached for future use. It's like a extra heavy waxed dental floss which glides. On my spare coil with rod attached, I keep the string attached to it too.

Funny...I was so mad! But I do see the humor in it! I was thinking this should take a minute...ended up being like a crossword puzzle!
