First point in over a decade plus 1st Spanish Silver!!

I went detecting with a couple new friends (Mark and Jim) to some fields they were gracious enough to share down in Southern New Jersey. We hopped from field to field for a few hours with minimal finds (couple beat up flat buttons and odds and ends) until we reached the last field of the day.

Within 5 minutes of being in the field I hit a nice clean smooth signal on my Musketeer Advantage using a 15" WOT coil, but before I could dig it Jim yelled out that he had found spanish silver!! So I stuck my shovel into the ground to mark the location and ran over to see it. He had landed a nice whole half reale!! We were stoked to say the least. Well I went back to my marked hole and flipped up the plowed soil and had some trouble locating the target either in or out of the hole... So I rescanned and noticed I had flipped it out in the initial scoop but it must be small as the Propointer didn't nab it right away. Well I scanned with it again and finally found my target, a tiny black sliver.... Well guess what, it was my first ever spanish silver in 4 years of detecting!!! A Cut in half Half Reale from the Mexico mint!! Boy was I estatic!! The condition is gorgeous and I only wish it was whole, but I'll surely take it and thank the MD Gods for that one!!

Well after a few minutes Jim had to head out and told us to keep him posted on finds and within 10 minutes of him leaving I landed my first point since I was 12 (I'm 27 now). A beautiful whole point to tip quartz arrowhead!! Can anyone ID this point as I'm not big on artifacts since I rarely find them.

The rest of the day was rather uneventful with just some scrap metal and a beat up flat button, but this is a day I'll surely never forget!! I'd say my best detecting day ever despite many days of large coppers and old silver, because I had two HUGE firsts and got to spend the day with two awesome new friends who I hope I can share many many more finds and days of detecting with!!

Congrats on the silver and the point nice finds. just got back from camping and took out the shark> nabbed a ring but only plated seemed to work well except the threshold.
Will post pics some time soon once again congrats on the finds keep it up.

WTG dude it's great to see you get your spanish fix.:yo:

Funny how you me and Neil all scored our first ones this year... :drinking:

Sweet find that is!!! The Carolus IIII Spanish Colonial 1/2 Real was called a "Picayune", because of its small size/value. Back in 1922 they named a small town in South Mississippi after that coin.. I have found several Reals over the years but the "Picayune" I found last Spring was the most exciting of them all. It was an 1803, and I am very familuar with that (no longer so little) town in South Mississippi, so that really made it special for me. I hope you can find another, and another! H H, Charlie

The point looks like a Piscataway type of the middle to late Woodland period, which was 2500 to 500 years ago.

Nice point and Half Real!

The point is incredible and the silver is as well.
