I took my new Excal out today for the first time.I walked the river and it's wooded trails.
I just wanted to try and figure things out before I do
any Serious hunting. I think I'll be alright. It seems like a great machine.

I was pretty excited. The merc was deep too, like 7 inches in the wet sand. I was using the Excal 800. What depths can I expect with this coil?

I don't know what depths you can get as I do not have an excal yet but I do believe that the depth will be regulated by what type soil you are in as with any detector.

Currently I only have an Ace250, although not a great or expensive detector I do have fun with it and been lucky pulling some mercs wheats and a V nickle with it, all about 4-5 inches and know what you mean about being excited but never get more than 1 or 2 goodies at time for some reason.

My wishes are to get an excal, not sure yet about 8 or 10 coil, I would think tha 8" would be better in trashy areas but then what do I know, nutin absolutely nutin!
