First outing with Sov with Dixie Mods

I took my new Sov with the Dixie mods and 8 inch coinsearch coil out for the first time at my favorite relic spot. I have taken over 1,000 good pieces out over the last year. I went to a spot @ 10 ft square that I have pounded to death with an Explorer, F-75, CZ-3D and a Sov that was not modified and had a factory 10 inch coil. The relic area is @ 1 acre, but this 10 foot square area I chose to test has been hunted so hard I thought nothing left that was DETECTABLE. Here is the picture of what I found within a few minutes in that square. I was very impressed with this unit and the way David told me to set it up. Looking forward to many more trips to the iron infested relic site with this unit.

It still amazes me how small the good finds are in heavy iron trash using the Sov. I'm glad the new GT with my mods is doing a good job for you. Keep us posted. Good hunting, David@Dixie

I just took a 10 day trip to the Florida gulf coast. I carried my SovGT, (w/the mods), an Explorer SE with Pro coil, and an F75. I didn't even take the F75 out of the bag. I used the SE a little but I used the GT the most. It is just more stable and with the box chest-mounted it is lighter and easier to swing than the SE. I have a 180 meter and a SR S-1 probe. This was the first time I ever really used it much chest-mounted and I will never mount the box on the shaft again. Frankly, I see no reason to keep the SE...

You done good! I have a spot like that. I have pounded it for over two years and have display cases full of minnies, buttons, buckles and all sorts of calvary stuff, even a sutlers token and a box plate... I have almost hunted it out... I have mostly hunted it with a Tejon, T2, and F75. I think I am going to start hunting it with the GT and 8" Coinsearch.

My beach trip and your post have inspired me!

Thanks for sharing,

Julien
