That's how I mounted the coil. It is a heavy coil and reversing it makes it a lot easier
to swing.
I took it out to this site that I have hunted and re-hunted a few times.
I concentrated most of my hunt around the white house I drew into the photo.
I have not used the Euro much lately, and I have only used the stock 12X10 a couple
of times last year with short hunts in open areas. Didn't get used to it.
This place is different. It has a ton of iron of all kinds in the ground, mostly real small.
It's everywhere!!!!! There is modern trash on top and the ground is very positive.
I was faced with a learning curve. I couldn't tell target size or depth at first, and I could
not pin point very good at first either.
What made it harder is that my new shovel gave up on the first hole and I had to dig all
these deep and wide holes with my Fiskers Hand digger. Fiskers held up fine.
At first as I was walking over to the hot spot, I was practicing. I was in a spot that was
covered with lead headed small nails and did not know it.
I could pick up the nail and lead head at the same time with the two tones. Or if I used
the Iron Blank Feature, I could just pick up the lead head. These nails were so close
together that there was always several nails under my coil at the same time. I was
picking up stuff like this more than 8" deep. The Penny is just for size.
The 12X10 is very sensitive. I was surprised how hard it hit on small objects.
Figured out how bad it was there and moved on to the hot spot.
I was digging most stuff 8" to 18" deep with my Fiskers digger. Boy am I sore.
Here's the pile.
I cleaned up a few things to look at closer.
The badge had a border and a design at top with writing across the middle and
the bottom. It is copper and so pitted that I can only make out a few letters here
and there. There is an old pocket knife and a brass ring that I can not ID. There
is an iron what-zit with the number "274 A 92" with a diamond shape below that.
There is another what-zit made out of Tin and lead maybe.....
There is also a neat brass ring. I dont know what it's for. But it looks cool.
Thanks for looking,
